A.A.Mohan is the founder partner of our firm. He is a Post Graduate in Law (ML) specializing in International law. With an experience of over 25 years at Bar, he is one of India’s pioneers in handling intellectual property law.
Initially starting off with trademarks and copyrights, he has subsequently expanded his expertise to patent and designs work. As a member of various international associations including International Trademark Association, New York (INTA); Institute of Trade mark Attorneys (ITMA) London; Asian Patents Attorneys Association, (APAA) Tokyo; Intellectual Property Law Practitioners Association (IPLPA); Institute for Invention and Innovation, Tokyo; he was amongst the harbingers of global competencies in providing intellectual property legal services in India.
He is renowned as one of India’s foremost intellectual property litigators. Dealing with a majority of landmark intellectual property decisions in India, his enthusiasm and dynamism pervades the spirit and culture of the firm. Having successfully litigated in numerous high profile cases including the ‘Novartis Litigation’ in 2007 and the recent patent dispute between Bajaj and TVS, he has inculcated the traits of creativity and innovation in all work handled by the firm.
His expertise of course, extends well beyond the Courts. He advices an extraordinarily broad client base, ranging from leading corporates, academic institutions to governmental bodies, on numerous intellectual property issues. He is also actively involved in various commercial activities undertaken by clients, such as re-branding exercises and R&D overhauls. With an inherent versatility in providing commercially relevant advisory services, he is regarded by many as the first port of call for any potential intellectual property issue.
With an extraordinarily high success rate before all major Courts in India, his quest for excellence is the norm in the firm. Mrs.Brinda Mohan is a senior partner in our firm. She is an Electrical and Electronics Engineer, registered patent attorney, registered trademark agent and an Advocate enrolled with Tamil Nadu Bar Council.
Before joining the firm in 1998, she has had over 20 years of technical and entrepreneurial experience with several leading corporates in India including Siemens and HCL. She is one of India’s few technically qualified and specialised patent attorneys.
She leads a dedicated team comprising of over 15 technically qualified personnel including engineers, bio-technicians and pharmacists. She has also enabled the office to set up a customised online delivery platform to ensure compliance with various procedural requirements. Her team is supported by a dedicated filing and maintenance team, enabling her to deliver quality end-to-end patent services. Her expertise in the patent field extends to the entire spectrum including advisory services, prior art searches, drafting and abstracting.
Her client portfolio is vast and encompasses several innovation centric organisations, ranging from prominent academic institutions to leading MNCs. She is renowned for her ability to interact fluidly with both R&D teams and legal teams, to allow our clients to capitalise fully on their patent assets.
Her approach, much like the firm’s, believes in reaching out to clients and providing quality deliverables. This sees her travelling constantly to client offices and interacting with them to ensure end solutions optimised to their specific parameters. Her constant interaction with our associates abroad ensures that our client’s assets are protected globally. She is well known for her expertise in handling global IP patent portfolios and is amongst India’s elite providers of automated patent maintenance services. Further, her association with patent offices around the world, including the Japanese Patent Office and the USPTO, has honed her expertise in handling client portfolios across the globe.
